Project 4.1 and 4.3
NWP Traveler Information Website Phase 2 and Center-to-Center Communications Concept of Operations

The North/West Passage Traveler Information Website Phase 2 project is an enhancement to Project 3.4. Project 3.4 focused on the creation of a high-level corridor-wide traveler information website.

The goals of this project are:

  1. Design and develop a Second Generation Corridor-wide traveler information website that builds upon the currently operational website (http://www.i90i94travelinfo.com/); adding the ability to:
    1. Acquire active event reports posted by member agencies;
    2. Display active events on I-90 and I-94 within the corridor (e.g. as icons and/or as colored road segments); and
    3. Perform additional features as determined during the design and Concept of Operations development period.
  2. Develop a Concept of Operation for sharing event information that all member states can agree to and that would explain exactly what each state must do in order to post information about current events within their state that will allow the Second Generation traveler information website software to acquire the event reports and display them on the corridor-wide map.
  3. Develop a Concept of Operations for event report sharing between states to guide future data exchanges among member agencies. For example, some member states may wish to exchange event reports between states in order to populate their condition reporting system with events from neighboring states.
