Project 3.3
CAD to Reporting System Integration - Workshop

On March 12, 2008 a workshop was held in Tacoma, Washington to provide participants from the North/West Passage states with the opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of and process followed to integrate Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Systems with statewide reporting system used to populate traveler information systems.

The purpose of this workshop was to help North/West Passage Program member states determine the value of proceeding with further CAD to reporting system integration, and to share insight into the process to perform the integration. Additionally, the workshop concentrated on how each of the states collect data, and discussed data sharing between law enforcement and transportation agencies at a high level. Washington State's recent experience served as a case study to identify the technical and institutional process used to complete the integration and further evaluate the benefit of receiving the additional information from CAD in a reporting system.

Attendees also toured the Combined Transportation Center where the Washington State DOT (WS DOT) and Washington State Patrol (WSP) are housed in the same the facility.
