Project 12.7
Plow Camera and Location Sharing Practices
Many states are using plow cameras to provide traveler information and support winter maintenance operations. States are providing plow location, using AVL systems, as another form of traveler information. Plow locations allow travelers to see where plows are actively maintaining roads and travelers may combine this information with road condition reports and camera images to make travel decisions.
Using phone interviews and a peer exchange webinar, this project gathered information to summarize the current practices some states use to share plow cameras and locations for traveler information and identify how services are being delivered. Practices identified in this webinar were documented in a summary report.
